Meet your tutor
Hi, I'm Zoe, founder of Charles Education.
I have a BA (Hons) in English Literature, a PGCE, Qualified Teacher Status, and over 24 years' teaching experience helping students build confidence and achieve success in GCSE English.
As an experienced teacher and Team Leader Examiner, I know exactly what students need to produce strong, thoughtful responses in English Literature. My courses go beyond simply learning quotes or memorising themes. I help students understand writers' intentions, explore characters and ideas in depth, and develop the analytical skills needed to write high-quality exam essays.
What sets my teaching apart is more than subject knowledge.
I create a calm, supportive environment where students feel confident to ask questions, think critically and develop their own interpretations without fear of getting things wrong. Whether they're aiming to secure a pass or striving for the highest grades, every lesson is carefully structured to build both knowledge and self-belief.
Learning with me means clear explanations, expert feedback and practical strategies that help students feel more confident, more capable and more in control of their GCSE English Literature studies.
Why I recommend group sessions for English Literature.
English Literature is all about exploring ideas, discussing different interpretations, and learning to justify your thinking with evidence from the text. That's why I believe group learning is one of the most effective ways to develop these skills.
My lessons are fast-paced, engaging and full of discussion. Students benefit not only from my teaching, but also from hearing different perspectives, alternative interpretations and thoughtful questions from their peers. Often, one student's insight sparks an idea that helps the whole group see a character, theme or writer's intention in a completely new way.
Through guided discussion, students learn to evaluate different viewpoints, build on each other's ideas and develop more sophisticated responses—skills that are highly rewarded in GCSE English Literature.
Just as importantly, they grow in confidence. Over time, even quieter students become more willing to contribute, explain their thinking and engage in meaningful discussion, creating a supportive learning environment where everyone benefits.
